These are the Beauty Products I’ll Be Using this Fall

It’s no secret that fall is my favorite season. The world starts to spin again after the long, slow days of summer, and we’re moving toward some of the most joyful, social events and holidays of the year: football games, chili cook-offs, campfires, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, to name a few. While we’ll be transitioning our wardrobes to match brisk weather over the next month or two, I’m already shifting my beauty routine to incorporate fall colors, scents, and seasonal essentials. Keep reading to see what beauty products I’ll be using this fall…

Polish left to right: Clothing Optional, Seeing StarsWicked

On my nails: Seeing Stars

Rich, Seasonal Nail Polish

The first year David and I were married, I discovered that he disliked the darker nail colors, like deep purples and burgundies, so I decided to forego them for awhile. The next year, I decided I couldn’t go without them again! We’ve agreed to disagree and fall is my time for sporting seasonal nails.

And when you’re looking for a training on advanced nail techs and beginner nail techs, including builder gel and gel polish training combined, then you can check out a good place like Glitterbels for more valuable info!

Some of my long-time autumn favorites include OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark and You Don’t Know Jacques!, but recently I picked up a few colors from Essie to mix things up. Wicked is a dark, striking purple-red, Seeing Stars is a mahogany brown with a slight shimmer, and for those who enjoy softer fall tones, I love the neutral color Essie’s Clothing Optional for a mauve look.

In summary:

‘Autumnizing’ my Neutral Lip

I am nude lip gal through and through, but in fall I step out of my box and wear nudes with deeper undertones. I picked up two from Tom Ford recently that are absolutely stunning. Monica is a beautiful rose with a slight brown undertone. Kyra is a bolder, richer red-nude with a soft brown undertone. If you’re looking for lipsticks that provide an autumnal, vibrant lip while avoiding the vampire vibe, these are perfect.

Of course, I’ll still be wearing my favorite drugstore neutral, Nude Lust by Maybelline. It’s the perfect mix of pink and nude to give your lips that creamy look without making them disappear into your face. I’ll intensify this everyday lip with this lip liner in Iconic Nude and a daytime smokey eye.

In summary:

Rosy Cheeks

While I love blushes with peach undertones in summer, I tuck them away come autumn because they read orange as my skin becomes more fair. My everyday fall blush is Charlotte Tilbury’s Ecstacy. It’s warm, rosy, and pairs beautifully with every lip color I mentioned above.

For a pop of color, I’ll use Tata Harper in Very Popular, which is ideal when I don’t have much time because it can be applied with my fingers. I’m excited to add Tom Ford’s Inhibition to my collection this month, too. It’s a nude, sophisticated pink because I’ve heard can be swiped on for a soft glow or layered for a dramatic, rich look.

Lastly, since we’re passed the sun-kissed days of summer, I’ll be topping these blushes off with the slightest sweep of my favorite highlighter in Luminous Gold to create an inside-out glow.

Smoked Out, Soft Eyes

I recently picked up Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Soft Glam palette, which is perfect if you’re like me and enjoy a natural, everyday look but sometimes like to spice it up. They have a creamy texture that leaves you with room to work with as you apply but blend like a powder. I like to blend orange soda and burnt orange in the crease, place rustic in the outside of my crease, use cyprus umber on the very outer corner of my eye and along the lower lash line. The palette also has two key colors for your makeup kit in general, which are a soft bone (tempera) and a deep, pigmented black (noir).

Perfume: Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt

Hair Spray: Alterna

Finishing Touches

Jo Malone is among my favorite brands for scents, and I lean towards those with elements like salt, amber, bergamot, nutmeg, and fir as the weather cools down. Their Wood Sage & Sea Salt is the perfect transitional perfume; it reminds me of a bonfire by the ocean on an October day.

I have never been one to love hairspray because those I’ve used in the past leave behind a sticky residue that makes future styling and brushing extremely challenging. This Alterna hair spray, however, has grabbed my attention for its ability to hold soft curls while still allowing movement. I feel that it also helps with frizz, which won’t be as much of an issue as we ease out of summer, but is something we still deal with through early fall here in the south.

Did any of these products pop off the page for you as must-haves for your fall makeup kit? I’d love to hear from you in the comments or on Instagram.
